Clothing
The weather in Ranthambore changes from extreme heat in the daytime in summer to extreme cold at night in winter. In summer bring comfortable light cotton clothing in natural earth colours. A good pair of walking shoes or boots are essential. In winter windcheaters, sweatshirts, woolen sweaters, mufflers and gloves are required.
Essential equipment
• Take adequate precautions before travelling in the sun. Bring sunscreen lotion, dark glasses, sunshades or a wide brimmed hat.
• Binoculars will be of great help while observing the animals.
• Bring essential medication, since brand names of medicines available in India may differ from the medication you may normally take.
• If you plan to take a lot of photographs, bring enough reels of film or additional memory cards for your digital equipment.
• Bring extra sets of batteries for your cameras, particularly if they use non-standard batteries.
Additional Expenses:
Entry fees are charged at Ranthambore National Park. If you're carrying cameras or video cameras there is an additional charge to be paid for this. There is a fee to be paid for vehicles entering the Park. The guide on your trip will also require payment.
Transport within the Ranthambore National Park:
Jeeps which take four people at a time, apart from the driver and guide are available at the entrance to Ranthambore National Park. Small open-backed trucks called Canters run by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, which take up to 25 people at a time for a tour of the park, are also available for hire.
Jungle Safari Timing
Jungle safari timings depend on the time of the sunrise and sunset. Generally speaking, the Park opens to the tourists half an hour after sunrise and closes half an hour before sunset. The forest authorities determine Park entry and exit timings, and these are subject to change without prior notice.
October to February - 7.00 am to 10.30 am and 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm
March to June - 6.30 am to 10.00 am and 3.00 pm to 6.30 pm
